Our metal roofs are built to handle typical Midwest snow loads without any issues. The steeper roof pitches on styles like lofted barns and gambrel roofs naturally shed snow faster, which helps prevent heavy accumulation.
For most Michigan winters, you won't need to do anything. If we get one of those stretches where it just keeps dumping and the snow is packing several feet deep, clearing some off the roof is a smart move. But that's true of any building, not just ours.
