Amish Casitas
Amish-built casitas are the most house-like buildings we offer, with a covered front porch and a residential roofline that looks at home behind any house. They make a natural backyard office, art studio, or guesthouse.
Our Casita Lineup
Both casita styles are built by Amish craftsmen in Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan and delivered to your property. No assembly, no finishing (unless you need it built on site). It goes where you want it and you're done.

Casita
A porch-front design with residential character, built for people, not just storage The casita's covered porch and residential roofline make it the most house-like building in our lineup. Popular as a backyard office, studio, or guesthouse.
PopularLofted Casita
Porch out front, full loft above, maximum use from a compact footprint Every feature of the standard casita plus a full overhead storage loft built in. The loft adds storage without expanding the building's ground footprint.
Real Casitas. Real Backyards.
Three Materials.
Same Craftsmanship.
Every shed we build uses the same pressure-treated framing and galvanized hardware. What you're choosing is the exterior — each material has a different trade-off between aesthetics, maintenance, and longevity.

LP SmartSide
Most popular choiceEngineered to resist moisture, rot, and insects from the inside out.
20 Sherwin-Williams colors painted at the Homestead Barns shop, with custom color matching available.
Backed by a 5/50-year manufacturer warranty, one of the strongest in the industry.

Metal
Longest lifespan29-gauge Galvalume-coated steel that won't rust or need painting for the life of the building.
Reflects heat to reduce interior temperature buildup during Michigan summers.
40+ year service life, often the last siding material an owner will ever put on a building.

Vinyl
Zero maintenanceUV-resistant PVC panels that hold their color without painting or staining.
Interlocking panel system rated for the high winds common across Southern Michigan.
Hose it off once a year and that's the full maintenance list.
Regardless of which siding you choose, the structural framing is identical — pressure-treated 2×4 studs, galvanized hardware throughout, and aluminum drip edges on all exposed roof lines. The bones are the same on every building we make.
Not What You're Used To
Most of this industry runs the same playbook: gimmicky pricing, a weekend sale that was never really a sale, and emails that never get a reply. We wrote our own, built on honesty and integrity. And when we don't have the answer, we work to get you one.
Our prices are on the website
Others: pricing hidden behind a contact form.
Design in 3D before anyone contacts you
Others: three sales calls before you know what anything costs.
Built and delivered by crews we know and trust
Others: subcontracted crews you never meet.
Confirmed build queue, honest lead time
Others: no real timeline, no updates until delivery day.
See Yours Before
You Buy It
Pick your style, size, colors, and options. Rotate it, zoom in, and make it yours. The whole process is easy and you'll walk away knowing exactly what your building looks like before you commit.

Two Ways to Get Your Building

Mule Delivery
Our standard option. Your building is hand-built at the shop, loaded onto a truck, and placed on your site with our specialized Mule machine. The Mule fits through tight gates and around landscaping that most trucks can't, with minimal impact on your lawn.
- Standard for ~85% of customers
- Fits through gates and tricky access
- Placed and leveled professionally

Build On-Site
When your site can't accept a pre-built delivery, like wooded lots, no road access, or unusually tight spaces, our craftsmen bring the workshop to you and build your structure piece by piece. Adds a few weeks to the timeline.
- About 1 in 5 customers choose this option
- Built piece by piece on your property
- Same craftsmen, same materials

Questions About Casitas
Our Casitas start around $3,880 for an 8×12 with a porch, and the price you see is the price of the building. Larger and lofted Casitas climb from there with size and options. Current pricing for every size is on our pricing page.
Mostly the porch. Both are finishable, porch-style buildings with the same construction, but the cabin runs its covered porch across the front, the classic cabin look, while the casita tucks the porch into a corner for a more house-like footprint. It comes down to the porch and the look you're after.
It depends on your local zoning and building codes, and ADU rules vary widely by municipality. A Casita can be insulated and finished for comfortable use, but whether it qualifies as a legal dwelling is up to your local authority, so check with them before ordering or finishing one for living use.
Your local township, city, or county sets this, and it varies. The common framework is a zoning compliance permit for buildings up to 200 square feet, then a building permit once you go over. Turning a casita into finished living space can trigger extra rules, so it's worth a call to your local office before you build or finish one.
Insulation, electrical, and a ductless mini-split make a Casita comfortable in any season, and interior finishes like paneling and flooring complete the space. A screened or open porch adds usable square footage. Tell us how you'll use it and we'll line up the right options.
Yes. Rent-to-own is available through JMAG with 36-month and 48-month terms, no credit check, and just the first month's payment due when you get the Casita.
