- Accessory buildings may not be in any minimum side-yard setback or any front yard. Rear-yard placement follows the accessory-building table; common residential cases include 3 ft side/rear setback for accessory buildings totaling 200 sq ft or less, 5 ft for many lots under 1 acre, and 10-25 ft setbacks for larger/taller buildings or larger lots. Minimum setback from any building is commonly 10 ft, increasing by table.
